Today [5/5/11] Google unveiled an add-on to their Google Maps & Places products called Google Business Photos. This new product will allow users to get a look at the inside of local businesses.
Google’s Vice President of Location and Maps, Marissa Mayer, made the announcement today at the Social-Loco conference in San Francisco.
During an on stage demo, Google showed the ability for users to ‘enter’ businesses and see the inside of the respective building. Businesses can either provide photos to Google (who will compile them into a 360-degree view of the interior of the building) or request a Google Photo Shoot.
Restaurants, Bars, Salons and other establishments should find Business Photos to be a very useful tool. Potential customers may flock to the idea of being able to see a new restaurant before they visit. Google Business Photos is currently in Beta.
